Electric Faces Cast & Crew: Calum MacAskill

It’s great to be reunited with Calum MacAskill for Electric Faces. MacAskill previously starred in my first short, ‘Mugging For Amateurs’ as the inept co-lead character, Robbie.

For Electric Faces, Calum MacAskill has been cast as an antiquated Humech called ‘Hugh’. The role involves considerable costume/prop work that, married with his physical performance, renders MacAskill unrecognisable.

Calum previously exhibited his talent for physical art in his one man show, Calum MacAskill: Minotaur/Monitor (part of the Arches LIVE 2012) where he portrayed the mythical Minotaur beast as a creature bodily impaired and cursed to negotiate even basic everyday tasks. A keen artist and creative, MacAskill has regularly built his own unique props and costumes for his live performances and frequently showcases his work during the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival. MacAskill also regularly visits local hospitals to entertain children as a clown doctor.

Onscreen, Calum MacAskill contributed to Mike Schnieder’s animated reinvention of George A Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. His abstract segment was hailed as a highlight of the 100+ artist mass collaboration.
